Letters 12thNaval District 1 - 1000

These documents are over seventy (70) years old and many are on "onion skin" type paper; this is a translucent type paper that for many years was used to make "carbon" copies of letters or documents, the first page is the original, then a piece of carbon paper followed by another piece of paper or an onion skin for the first copy, then another carbon paper with a second onion skin for the second copy, followed by another carbon paper and onion skin for the third copy. Depending on how far down in the stack on the manual typewriter the scanned copy of the document will determine the "readable" quality of the document. In most instances the original and first copy are acceptable to read, depending upon how well the document has been preserved over the years. For the second and third copies you will need a lot of help in reading as you decipher; a, o, e, c, or an; f and t; and my favorites; b, h, and k. So if you do order copies of the scanned document please bear the above in mind.

Of course this is a blantant attempt to have you order copies of these documents that are already retyped, remember this site has to pay for itself somehow. The retyped documents are proofread and adhere as closley as possible to the lay out of the original document, spelling mistakes in the original documents ARE NOT corrected in the retyped document. A retyped document is as the name implies, a fully retyped document NOT an OCR scanned document.

Not all scanned Documents have been retyped, if your request falls into this category, it may take any where from a few days up to three weeks depending upon the length and complexity.

If you have any INQUIRES

DO TO RISING COSTS PLEASE REQUEST AN ESTIMATE PRIOR TO PLACING AN ORDER
